ASO Pops with Rock Tenors | Atlanta Cultural Arts Reviews

ASP Pops with Rock Tenors

It’s quite an experience when you are watching a listening to a formally clad symphony orchestra banging out rock tunes, and rocking the house. Their concerts this weekend under the baton of Michael Krajewski featured the three tenors, Shem von Schroeck, Rob Evans and Micah Wilshire.

The orchestra opened with Gregory Prechel’s arrangement of various tunes into his Rock Overture. I could hear several I recalled and the piece set the stage and tempo for the rest of the evening. The tenors were on stage for a good number of numbers, but in truth, it was the ASO Pops that was the star of the evening.

Who wouldn’t want to sing along with Lady Madonna or I Heard it Through the Grapevine. The gent next to me had to be at least 75 years of age and he was grooving non-stop. The final number was We Will Rock You segueing into We Are the Champions. And not only were all the folks in the house singing, they pulled out their cell phones to light up as if they were using candles at an outdoor concert.

And for the encore we all sang along with Joy to the World. It’s always amazing when you see the range of genres that our ASO can present. So we say, Thanks. . .
